Project Highlight: Completion of the Port Manatee North Gate Expansion.

Adkins Building & Construction, a General Contractor (CGC1528214) in Bradenton, Florida, is pleased to announce a successful partnership with Ranger Construction to complete the Port Manatee North Gate expansion. Adkins Building & Construction brings many decades of commercial construction experience to this partnership and is excited about the on-time and on-budget completion of this unique opportunity.

According to portmanatee.com, the port has more than $2.3B in economic impact each year for the community and supports more than 24,000 jobs.

Since the port was opened 49 years ago, ship sizes had increased, and cargo handling has reached an all-time high. As a result, warehouses on the 1,100-acre site are almost full. Manatee County commissioners, who are the port authority, discussed the future port operations as they approved the $33million capital improvement plan for 2019-20.

The project involved the construction of an extension to the Port’s north access gate.

By extending the roof structure, the addition added two additional access lanes to the existing two (2) lanes.

The addition was designed to match existing structures in construction and site improvement (curbs, traffic splitter island, bollards, etc.) configuration.
