3 Things to Consider for Your Restaurant Build
When you open a restaurant, the food, finances and décor is probably on your mind, but is the restaurant build in your thought? You have probably thought about it but what you may not have considered is all the different factors. What separates a good restaurant from a great restaurant? The space, so here are three things to consider for your restaurant build:
- How are you going to divide the space?
The shape, size and previous layout will be some of the factors to help you decide this. However, you need to make sure you give yourself enough space to work and operate a nice food establishment. The main dining room will almost always be the biggest space but do not forget to save room for the kitchen, the busing and washing area, storage, fridge, revealing area, break room and back office. Sound like a lot to squeeze your space in? Don’t worry, your contractor can help but it is important to keep this all in mind when planning out your restaurant.
- Where is it going to be located?
Location can make all the difference so really think about it before you buy/build your place. The location can help set the atmosphere, help you reach your target demographic and make things easier or harder when doing construction. Think about it, you would not put a family pizza restaurant in the middle of bustling night clubs. You also wouldn’t put a loud and busy bar restaurant in the suburbs. What does this location say about your business? Not to mention, different areas will have zoning and building laws. Make things easier on yourself by looking into the location beforehand.
- Are you going to be able to obtain the necessary licenses and permits?
This is a big one. It goes back to how important it is when choosing a location. If you are not going to be able to get licenses and permits, then you will need to change quite a few things during your restaurant build.
