The Evolution of Post-Covid Office Building Construction
It’s finally here. We’ve waited for what seems like an eternity, but it looks like COVID-19 is in the rear-view window at last. Everyone has wondered when exactly would things go back to normal. We should have known the answer to that question before the vaccine came out: We weren’t returning to the old normal. Instead, we were creating a new normal. A “normal” intended to prevent the coronavirus from rising again.
Fun fact: the pandemic’s announcement stopped a lot of work for many people, but for office building construction workers, it continued. They did more than work. Their work ensured that the building’s construction would make for a safer, COVID-free environment for employees.
This was not one simple, quick fix. Instead, there were multiple provisions they made to ensure a COVID-free atmosphere, such as:
- Building offices that provide more space for employees, such as socially distanced desks, to move around so that the virus won’t spread from one to another through touch.
- Air filtration units should be provided to eliminate certain air pathogens that could potentially come in contact with infected air.
- Touchless technology eliminates the risk of one worker getting the virus because they touched the same object as an infected employee did.
Coronavirus was frightening for quite some time because we knew little about it. This evolution in office building construction will prevent it from spreading again and may prevent similar viruses. Companies prefer their employees to take as few sick days as possible, so this evolution is a welcome addition for everyone.
